Build A Rabbit Cage
That Gives Your Bunny Plenty Of Room
It is a sad and unfortunate
fact that many people see pet rabbits as little more than
decorations. No matter how much they act as if they like their pets,
they do not treat them in a way that is very humane. They will coop
them up in small cages where they do not have the room to move
around. As a result of this treatment, the rabbits will often get
grumpy and unhappy. The owners will then respond by taking them out
even less, causing a vicious circle that makes everyone unhappy.
This is why it can be so helpful to build your own rabbit cage. It
is much easier to build a rabbit cage than you might think. Although
commercially available rabbit cages do have some advantages, in
general they are cruel and inhumane. They have metal bars on the
bottom that hurt the rabbit's feet, and they do not give the bunny
enough room to move around.
If you build a rabbit cage, however, you can make it as big as you
want. You can even build a rabbit hutch outside with plenty of room
for the rabbit to run all over the yard. That way, you will be able
to keep the rabbit safe and secure while giving it enough room to
explore and exercise. Even though it is time consuming, it is also
easy to build a rabbit cage. Building a rabbit cage only requires
the most rudimentary tools. You need wooden boards, nails, and
precious little else. Throw in a hinged door, some metal screen for
the top, and you are set.
Although it is a good idea to build a rabbit cage for your bunny
since it is more comfortable than the metal cages, you still may
want to own a metal cage for some purposes. The metal cages are
great for transporting the rabbit around, as well as for those rare
circumstances where you have to put the bunny in the corner while
you clean the house or mow the lawn. For other purposes, however,
you are always guaranteed to give your bunny a nicer home when you
build a rabbit cage than when you buy one. The rabbit will be
happier, and therefore more friendly. And best of all, when you
build a rabbit cage, you have the room to expand out and add other
bunnies. This way, you can watch your rabbit population grow and
grow.
